Introduction:
University College of Applied Sciences (UCAS) has received a grant from the Quality Improvement Fund (QIF) - Education to Work Transition Project - Ministry of Education and Higher Education and funded by the World Bank for the project entitled: Pal Apps. The project aims to build the capacity of IT students and academics in the field of programming and development of mobile applications. Accordingly, UCAS seeks the selection and employment of ahighly-qualified consultant to develop the curriculum for" Analysis and Design of Mobile App User Interfaces" course.
Assignment Objective:
UCAS is considering the selection of a highly-qualified curriculum development consultant in order to put the curriculum and present a suitable educational material for " Analysis and Design of Mobile App User Interfaces" course with the following details:
Course objectives: Understand and practice the concepts of software requirements, UI/UX design and Software Engineering concepts. This course also addresses the issues associated with the user experience and the design of user interfaces for mobile devices.
Course credit hours :Credit hours: 2 includes(2 lecturing hours , 2 Lab hours )
Course Content:
Base-line Concepts:The course should cover the following topics:
1. Visual design
2.Information architecture
3.Structuring, organization, and labeling
4.Finding and managing
5.Interaction design
6.Advanced Target: In the most successful scenarios the student should have a practical programming project on one or more of these concepts with focus on Usability, Accessibility and HCI.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
Based on the recommendations of curriculum need assessments consultant of Database and Programming specialty and under the general direction of the PalApps steering committee, and UCAS Curriculum Development Unit ( UCAS CDU) , the curriculum development Consultant will be responsible for, but not limited to the following:
1. Prepare the Syllabus based on the course objectives and contents mentioned above
2. Ensure the coherence of the various elements composing the Syllabus
3. Prepare the educational material(book, lecturing slides ( .ppt) , instructor manual, Lab manual) based on the UCAS CDU procedures Annex (1)
4. Prepare the related curriculum development documents needed by UCAS
5. Evaluate all technical and vocational process of the curriculum development.
Qualifications:
1. At least Master degree in Computer Engineering ,Computer Sciences , IT or other related field.
2. Minimum 3 years of professional experience in Mobile App User Interfaces field.
3. Minimum 3 years of academic experience
4. Proven previous work experience in conducting similar assignments (at least 2 similar assignments).
5. Strong report writing skills in English and Arabic.
Deliverables:
1. Syllabus
2. Educational material (book, lecturing slides ( .ppt) , instructor manual, Lab manual)
3. Completion of evaluating technical and vocational process of the curriculum development based on UCAS CDU procedures.
4. Final report shall state the followings:
5. Progress, advantages, disadvantages, issues of curriculum development process.
6.Specific conclusions and recommendations.
Duration and type of consultancy:The duration of the assignment is 6 weeks within the period from July12nd 2014 till August 23rd 2014.
Contract Type:Lump Sum Contract.
