National Project Officer Human Security

he National Project Officer will work under the direct supervision of the Human Security Advisor (HSA) in the Swiss Representative Office in Ramallah. 
She / He will assist in following up on project management in the fields of Peace Promotion and the rule of law implemented by partner organizations of the Human Security Division of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs.
She / He will also provide advice in International Humanitarian Law (IHL) in order to assist in formulating adequate responses to developments on the ground.

The specific functions of this position are as follows:
-Prepare project documentation required by the Human Security Division, including administrative follow-up, and maintain regular communication with the partner organizations;
-Provide advice to the Swiss Representative Office in Ramallah in IHL and closely monitor developments on the ground;
-Network with relevant organizations and institutions active in the fields of IHL, Peace Promotion and the rule of Law;
-Assist in the conception, preparation, documentation and evaluation of events, workshops and seminars linked to IHL and Human rights law in Israel/Palestine;
-Perform other tasks as required by the HSA / Swiss Representative Office.

Required qualifications and experience
-Advanced University Degree in International Law, International Relations, Political Science or another relevant field;
-Proven knowledge and experience in International Humanitarian Law and/or Human Rights Law;
-At least five years of relevant working experience, previous experience with an international organization/representation would be a strong asset;
-Excellent knowledge of the political and organizational landscape of Palestine;
-Good communication and interpersonal skills to deal with persons of different cultural backgrounds;
-Excellent writing skills and ability to draft documents, reports and communication for professional use;
-Excellent command of Arabic and English, both spoken and written. Passive knowledge of French or German would be an asset.
